Indira Laisram

I started my career with mainstream media outlets such as The Press Trust of India, The Times of India and Businessworld magazine. I wrote and edited stories on politics, business, lifestyle and culture. After 17 years of working in India, I moved to Australia in 2009 where I have since been involved with community magazines.

I am currently a contributor for The Indian Sun, which has firmly cemented its position as one of the leading diverse cutting edge media platforms in Australia focused on the Indian diaspora.

A recipient of the Judith Neilson grant for community journalism in 2020, I found that covering a pandemic is a once in a lifetime experience. I was comfortable telling stories about the diaspora that talks about pain and resilience, separation and solidarity.
